The SDS-One Apex series now features a total of 5,760 colour references, incorporating all 1,440 colours for polyester from Archroma’s Colour Atlas into its existing colour library of 4,320 colour Atlas colours for cotton poplin.

The expanded colour library within the SDS-One Apex series aims to assist designers and manufacturers in visualising and evaluating their design choices on realistic fabric simulations, ultimately facilitating their transition to production with dyes and finishes aligned with their sustainability preferences.

A representative from Shima Seiki said: “By expanding our collaboration with Archroma to polyester colours, we are further empowering our users with colour inspiration and streamlined product development.”

The Shima Seiki system claims to offer a smooth transition to machine programming, reducing waste and accelerating time-to-market. Each of the 5,760 Colour Atlas colour references in the SDS-One Apex series design software is available as a physical colour standard, complete with dyeing recipes, compliance data, and access to expert technical support from Archroma worldwide.

Chris Hipps, head of strategic business development at Archroma Colour management, said: “Users of Shima Seiki’s advanced SDS-One Apex series platform will now be able to select from the industry’s largest library of colours for both cotton and polyester and, more importantly, trust that their choice can be reliably executed.

“Our colours are formulated with dyes that comply with international eco-standards and work with Archroma’s colouration systems, like Fast Sport.”

The polyester collection is said to encompass a range of colours, from neutral earth tones to jewel tones and fluorescent shades, catering to a variety of applications, including sportswear, fashion, home furnishings, and automotive textiles.

In the same year, Shima Seiki introduced the world’s first ‘whole garment’ knitting machine that claimed to produce one entire piece of garment in one go.
