Notably, Sales and Related Occupations jobs accounted for a 34% share of the global apparel industry’s social responsibility-related total new job postings in Q3 2023, down 33% over the prior quarter.

Sales and Related Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity

Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 34%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the apparel industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 33% quarter-on-quarter. Office and Administrative Support Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q3 2023, with new job postings rising by 29% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent social responsibility roles include Personal Care and Service Occupations with a 7% share in Q3 2023, Management Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in apparel industry accounted for 90% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Levi Strauss & Co, VF, Columbia Sportswear, Hugo Boss, and Ralph Lauren. Together they accounted for a combined share of 90% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the apparel industry.

Levi Strauss & Co posted 196 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q3 2023, VF 152 jobs, Columbia Sportswear 133 jobs, Hugo Boss 86 jobs, and Ralph Lauren 24 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 84.76% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the apparel industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 84.76% followed by Canada (6.10%) and Switzerland (2.13%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points higher than the 82.64% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
