Notably, Sales and Related Occupations jobs accounted for a 22% share of the global apparel industry’s artificial intelligence-related total new job postings in Q3 2023, up 40% over the prior quarter.

Sales and Related Occupations drive artificial intelligence-related hiring activity

Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 22%, emerged as the top artificial intelligence-related job roles within the apparel industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings rising by 40% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 14% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 25% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent artificial intelligence roles include Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 13% share in Q3 2023, Management Occupations with a 9% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in apparel industry accounted for 90% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Skechers USA, VF, Ralph Lauren, Peloton Interactive, and Levi Strauss & Co. Together they accounted for a combined share of 90% of all artificial intelligence-related new jobs in the apparel industry.

Skechers USA posted 56 artificial intelligence-related new jobs in Q3 2023, VF 20 jobs, Ralph Lauren 20 jobs, Peloton Interactive 12 jobs, and Levi Strauss & Co 6 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by Italy with a 53.54% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of artificial intelligence-related new job postings in the apparel industry in Q3 2023 was in Italy with 53.54% followed by the US (38.58%) and San Marino (2.36%). The share represented by Italy was two percentage points higher than the 51.12% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
