Notably, Management Occupations jobs accounted for a 17% share of the global apparel industry’s environmental sustainability-related total new job postings in Q3 2023, down 51% over the prior quarter.

Management Occupations drive environmental sustainability-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 17%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the apparel industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 51% quarter-on-quarter. Sales and Related Occupations came in second with a share of 17% in Q3 2023, with new job postings rising by 21% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share in Q3 2023, Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in apparel industry accounted for 93% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Hugo Boss, VF, Levi Strauss & Co, UniFirst, and Ralph Lauren. Together they accounted for a combined share of 93% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the apparel industry.

Hugo Boss posted 105 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q3 2023, VF 50 jobs, Levi Strauss & Co 13 jobs, UniFirst 10 jobs, and Ralph Lauren 9 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by Germany with a 48.26% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the apparel industry in Q3 2023 was in Germany with 48.26% followed by the US (31.34%) and Canada (12.44%). The share represented by Germany was 15 percentage points lower than the 63.19% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
